Paderborn, 25.09.2025 - The Institute of Lightweight Design with Hybrid Systems (ILH) has unanimously elected Professor Mirko Schaper as its new Director. He will take over the management of the interdisciplinary research network, which focuses on innovative lightweight construction solutions for a sustainable future.
The ILH would like to thank the previous board member, Professor Thomas Tröster, for his many years of dedicated service. Under his leadership, the institute has established itself as a nationally and internationally recognised research institution and has provided important impetus for the further development of lightweight construction.
The Board members present also thanked Dr. Silvia Dohmeier-Fischer for her many years of service as Managing Director of the ILH. Dr. Barbara Floeing-Hering will take over this task in future.
Professor Schaper emphasised that he was looking forward to continuing the successful work and developing new research focuses together with the members of the institute.
