NIWI - Sustainable Industrialization and Resilient Infrastructure

The Chair for Sustainable Industrialization and Resilient Infrastructure (NIWI) adopts a practical approach, focusing on sustainable processes in industry as well as robust energy resilience systems. NIWI integrates technological innovation with economic and ecological sustainability while incorporating digital solutions into industrial applications. Practice-oriented research and close collaboration with the industry are central to its activities, with circular economy concepts and renewable energy actively promoted. In the long term, the group aims to further expand the interdisciplinary aspects of the twin transition in the industry for a digitalised and decarbonised economy.

Goal and motivation

The aim of the chair is to take a leading role in investigating the sustainable transformation of industries by optimising energy and material flows in production processes throughout their entire life cycle.
