Research topics of the second funding phase

In the second phase of the Research College, the excellent scientific qualification of doctoral candidates remains the main concern of the College, but major social challenges such as climate protection, resource efficiency, mobility and sustainability will continue to be addressed. New questions from the fields of rescue and fire fighting, medical technology and recycling will broaden the spectrum of research topics. In addition, research and development should be more strongly oriented towards the needs of social actors and transdisciplinary research partners.

We are looking for answers to the question of what contribution hybrid lightweight construction can make to the major challenges facing society.

In order to focus on these questions, we have identified the three main areas of climate protection, resource efficiency and mobility as fields of action. From these, corresponding topic clusters were derived, into which the individual, disciplinary doctoral topics are arranged.
